Our Story

Adventure Doesn't Retire, So Neither Did We.

We're Jacqui and Andy, a late 50s couple proving that adventure doesn't come with an expiration date.

Today we're travelling full-time, exploring the world slowly, independently, and very much on our own terms. But our story started long before 2VintageTravellers was ever an idea.

Before Life Got Serious

Long before travel became social media content, we were chasing adventures across Europe and Asia.

Whether it was sleeping on beaches in Thailand, partying in Corfu, or jumping on the cheapest flight we could find, we were always looking for our next adventure.

Travel wasn't a luxury. It was simply part of who we were.

Even after having children, we never stopped exploring. There were a few fewer backpacks, a few more comfortable beds, and slightly more planning involved, but our desire to see the world never disappeared.

A New Life In America

Life took an unexpected turn when we were given the opportunity to move from the United Kingdom to the United States.

The family took a vote and, to everyone's surprise, we all agreed.

So we packed up our lives and moved to New York.

Suddenly, destinations that once felt far away became accessible. Weekend road trips, Caribbean escapes, and adventures throughout North America became part of our new normal.

Eighteen years later, we're still grateful we took that leap.

The Empty Nest Years

As our children grew up and started lives of their own, we found ourselves standing at a crossroads.

We could settle into routine.

Or we could finally take the adventure we'd been talking about for years.

We chose adventure.

We sold most of our belongings, packed the rest into storage, and began creating a life built around experiences rather than possessions.

For us, the question became simple: If not now when?

Why We Started 2VintageTravellers

While researching trips, we noticed something strange.

Travel media seemed convinced that people over fifty only wanted cruises, organised tours, and all-inclusive resorts.

That wasn't our experience at all.

Everywhere we travelled, we met independent travellers our age staying in apartments, riding trains, exploring local markets, and finding adventures well beyond the tourist trail.

Yet very few websites were speaking to people like us.

So we have now created the website we wished already existed.

What We Believe

We believe curiosity has no age limit.

We believe life is too short to spend waiting for the perfect time.

We believe travel is about experiences, not checklists.

We believe some of the best adventures happen when things don't go according to plan.

Most of all, we believe it's never too late to take the trip, learn the skill, change direction, or start something new.
