Food: One of Kuala Lumpur's Greatest Strengths

If you're travelling on a budget, Kuala Lumpur can be incredibly affordable.

If you're a foodie, it can be dangerous.

The variety is extraordinary.

Within a few blocks you might find Malay nasi lemak, Chinese noodle dishes, Indian curries, Mamak restaurants, international cuisine and modern fusion dining.

One of our favourite approaches is simple:

Avoid the restaurant with the biggest Instagram queue.

Walk one street further.

The food is often just as good, considerably cheaper and you'll spend less time staring at the backs of other tourists.
